Eleanor & Park

Eleanor & Park by Rainbow Rowell

Novel Rating 5/5 ⭐️

Synopsis:

     Set over the course of one school year in 1986, this is the story of two star-crossed misfits-smart enough to know that first love almost never lasts, but brave and desperate enough to try. When Eleanor meets Park, you’ll remember your own first love-and just how hard it pulled you under.

The first time he’d held her hand, it felt so good that it crowded out all the bad things. It felt better than anything had ever hurt.”

This book was recommended to me during my sophomore or junior year (I can’t remember) by my freshman English teacher Nicole North! She got me to fall in love with Rainbow Rowell and there is still a few I haven’t read yet that she told me I should check out. Like

I know there is more but those are the two that were highly recommended. I also already read Carry On but I’ll save that for another time! This novel was so full of innocence, pain and real love. The relationship between Eleanor and Park really blossoms into one you would never expect, especially from societies standards and those are the relationships you want to hold onto. I’m a little upset with the ending, I wish Rainbow didn’t end it the way she did. I understand we don’t always get the happy endings we hope for, but the hoping is what keeps people going. I remember reading someplace from an interview an author did, the author stated;

“we cannot always have happy fairy tale endings, in real life or in fiction. But even if we don’t get the ending we hope for, we can create the one we wanted.”

So I created my own happy ending for Eleanor & Park because I want them to have one, Eleanor especially deserves it.

If you really wanna fall in love with Rainbow Rowell then I truly suggest you start with this novel.
