It Starts Like This

It Starts Like This by Shelby Leigh

Novel Rating 5/5 ⭐️

Synopsis:

A powerful poetry and prose collection about the journey through love, loss, healing, and hope. This book is for anyone who loves deeply, has bad days, and searches for happiness in the world around them. It is for those who have been hurt and have the scars to prove they’re still alive.

I swear with every kiss

You leave words on my tongue and every time you break away

I breathe a poem into my lungs.”

This collection of poetry is simply & utterly astounding! I became seriously hooked the moment I read the sample, it was then I knew that I needed to read more! I am really amazed with Shelby’s first poetry collection, it’s very strong and all her words really hit home for me. I highlighted basically half of the novel! I can’t really explain but It Starts Like This really unfolds before your eyes and it leaves you feeling so many emotions while your mind races. It has a really powerful punch, Shelby wrapped the whole novel together so seamlessly. The graphics in the novel were also very aesthetically pleasing to the eye, I love visuals in novels and these were superb!!

Recently I’ve been using a kindle because there are so many books out there (mostly poetry) that I want to read but don’t have the extra cash for the paperbacks at the moment! (not saying I won’t ever get the paperbacks, just in due time), so the kindle editions are priced well so I figured that I would give it a chance. Well I am in love. It took a long time to actually get used to. But It Starts Like This was the first novel I read on my kindle so it really pushed me to give the whole electronic read era a go!

Truthfully I look forward to reading future work by Shelby, her future in the writing career looks very promising and successful as such was her first collection. If you’re looking for your next read then I recommend buying this book, I promise you’ll enjoy it as much as I did!
